Gear - all those the bits and bobs that make a paddle both safer and more comfortable. They’re also the things that can be the topic of almost infinite discussion among paddlers — What’s needed under what conditions? What represents a “basic” kit that should always be in the canoe? What’s the next thing you should get? What works best for what trip (the shotgun you might want in the Little North might not be the thing you want in your boat paddling on the town lake)?
This Gather works best if everyone brings some of their gear to the meeting. We’ll start with the basics, the move onto additional gear that is useful across a broad range of paddling, and then into some more specialized areas - such as tripping, quick water, and other topics folks are curious about or experienced in. One of our favorite local paddlers, an experienced tripper, will start the conversation talking about his approach. From there, we’ll go where the discussion takes us.
This is a great session for all levels of paddlers - and the kind we like best - canoeists sharing info, asking questions, finding out new stuff, making contacts. Join us!
This session will meet in person at White Rose Canoe, 291 High Road, Newbury, MA 01951. There will also be a Zoom meeting for those who aren’t able to join us in person.
